Data Centre Cooling Solutions
The data center cooling method considers three cooling methods: computer room cooling using water circulation refrigeration system, natural cooling using groundwater heat exchange, and natural cooling using outdoor air heat exchange.
1. The cooling method of the computer room using the water-cooled refrigeration system
At present, in the cooling mode of the computer room of the water cycle refrigeration system of large data centers, the refrigeration system of the water-cooled chiller is basically used. Compared with the refrigeration system of the air-cooled chiller, it can save energy by about 20%. The cooling of the water circulation refrigeration system mainly uses a refrigeration system composed of a cooling tower, a cooling water circulation pump, a chiller, and a cold water circulation pump for refrigeration and cooling.
When the outdoor air temperature is lower than 5°C, it can be considered to use the cooling tower for direct cooling, and then heat exchange through the plate heat exchanger to provide cooling capacity for the cooling of the machine room. Considering that when the outdoor air is lower than 0°C, the cooling water system needs to use ethylene glycol solution as the refrigerant, and use a closed cooling tower and a water-water heat exchanger to exchange heat for cooling delivery.
2. Natural cooling method using groundwater heat exchange
Natural cooling using groundwater heat exchange mainly uses a refrigeration system composed of groundwater submersible pumps, water-water heat exchangers, and cold water circulation pumps for heat exchange and cooling.
For a cooling system with a heat exchange temperature difference of 2°C, when the groundwater intake temperature is higher than 13°C, direct heat exchange cooling cannot meet the cooling requirements of the computer room. At this time, water source heat pump cooling can be considered to provide cooling for the data computer room.
3. Natural cooling method using outdoor air heat exchange
The natural cooling using outdoor air heat exchange is mainly in winter, and the refrigeration system composed of dry cooler and cold water circulation pump can be directly used for heat exchange and cooling. Considering that when the outdoor air is lower than 0°C, the cooling and cooling system needs to use ethylene glycol solution as the refrigerant, and use a closed cooling tower and a water-water heat exchanger for heat transfer.
