Nowadays, the application of industrial chillers has been involved in various industries, including petrochemical industry, plastic industry, electronics industry, vacuum coating and so on. However, many companies are extremely entangled in whether to choose water-cooled chillers or air-cooled chillers when purchasing chillers. Here I will introduce some differences between them to help us make better choices.
First of all, the nature and principle of the chiller is a multifunctional refrigeration equipment, which removes the liquid steam engine through compression or heat absorption refrigeration cycle. The type of chiller can be divided into air-cooled chiller and water-cooled chiller according to the different refrigeration forms of the chiller.
Our simple identification method on the appearance is: if there is a fan installed on the top or side of the chiller, it is an air-cooled chiller. The one with the round yellow water tower is the water-cooled chiller. Their difference lies in the way of heat dissipation. The air-cooled chiller uses its own fan and air exchange to achieve heat dissipation. The water-cooled chiller requires auxiliary equipment: cooling towers and water pumps to dissipate heat. The air-cooled chiller does not require a cooling tower, is easy to install and easy to move, and is suitable for occasions where water is scarce. However, since the air-cooled chiller relies on fans to dissipate heat, it has higher requirements on the surrounding environment such as ventilation, humidity, and temperature. The water-cooled chiller operates more smoothly, has less cooling loss, is easy to return oil, and the heat transfer tube is less prone to freezing and cracking, and has higher energy efficiency than the air-cooled chiller. However, water-cooled chillers occupy a large area and are much more expensive than air-cooled chillers. When choosing a chiller, you must consider the objective environmental factors, choose the appropriate type, and then select the applicable chiller according to the cooling capacity (cooling capacity = chilled water flow * 4.187 * temperature difference * coefficient).
