What is a Low Temperature Glycol Chiller?
In the process of chemical reaction, the material temperature of low temperature glycol chiller is an important production process parameter. For example, in salt crystallization, solution separation, organic pigment and intermediate processing, the temperature control of low temperature glycol chiller is particularly important.
In chemical production, due to the large refrigeration capacity, some of which reach tens of thousands of kcal per hour, more low-temperature refrigeration is required. The expansion of chemical plants, the research and development of new products, and the aging of refrigeration equipment all require the purchase of new refrigeration equipment.
In the selection of refrigeration equipment, chemical practitioners should pay special attention. If the choice is not good, it will cause the refrigeration mismatch, high energy consumption, and even cause product quality problems, affecting normal production and increasing the operating cost of the enterprise.
In the selection of low-temperature chillers, four points are sorted out based on past experience:
1. Select cooling equipment and coolant according to the temperature, pressure, physical and chemical properties and cooling process requirements of the material to be cooled.
2. Ensure the air tightness of the cooling equipment and prevent the material from mixing with the cooling medium.
3. During the cooling process, the cooling medium cannot be interrupted. Otherwise, the material will accumulate heat and the temperature and pressure will rise, which could easily lead to a fire or explosion.
4. When cooling high freezing point materials (easy to solidify after cooling), pay attention to controlling the temperature to prevent the material from clogging the mixer or blocking the pipeline.
Since the material and the external cooler are circulated to the reactor jacket for heat transfer through the cooling liquid, the commonly used cooling liquids include water, brine and ethylene glycol solution. According to the customer’s refrigeration temperature requirements, ethylene glycol should be used as the cooling liquid.
The first reason is that ethylene glycol can be mixed with water to make a coolant that meets the process;
The second is because the freezing point temperature of ethylene glycol is low, preventing cooling water from freezing and damaging equipment and pipes;
Third, the ethylene glycol solution has the least corrosion on the inner wall of the reactor jacket and can be used stably for a long time.
